Gore 's speach and the IPCC

Posted on Oct 13th, 2007 by Diana : EGOhunter Diana
Well whatever you think about Al Gore and his movement, here's his first reaction to his prize and I find it great.

He's the only person to have won both an Emmy and a Nobel Prize. He's also the only American to win a Nobel Peace Prize since Carter. And, if memory serves, no presidential loser has ever been so honored, respected, powerful and influential.

But lets not forget the 3,000 scientists of the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change. Al Gore may have brought the message to the people. But the messange wouldn't have been there without the IPCC. Great work, you all deserve the honor, now that we all agree we've screwed up the planet...lets fix it!

So today is THE day, and here I am contributing to the Blog Action Day and talking about environment, about how important the health of mother earth is for us.

Well, if YOU stumble over my blog, a little wave on you to let you know that iCare too and that I do something for it!

  • I married an eco freak. (highly efficient!) :-)
  • I try to raise awareness of artists around the world  here and by selling consciousness raising t-shirts and bags here .
  • I recycle where I can.
  • I sold my car and go to work every day by train or bus.
  • My husband and I try to educate three boys in doing the same - so we are preparing a part of the future :-)

Well, this is my contribution to it. What do you do to respect our mother earth's health?

Oh, and don't forget we live on a breathing earth  and that it is time for us to adopt the sky !!!

And if you want to contribute by writing, here's a great community to join: The Sustainable Community Action Wiki - Share, learn and help with this fantastic wiki with over 2000 pages!

Wishing you all a great day on Earth!

The iPhone's hazardous chemicals

Posted on Oct 15th, 2007 by Diana : EGOhunter Diana
Has Steve really reinvented the phone?

Just got this in my mailbox from Greenpeace! Well I am just pissed off because this doesn't fit into my plans since I was really willing to buy one of those at the end of the year ...for christmas ...but if this all is true (and why shouldn't it be) ... I will stick with my old phone and that's it! here's the whole message:

Missed call: the iPhone's hazardous chemicals

Steve claimed in June that Apple had 'reinvented' the phone. Perhaps you are looking forward to the European launch in November? We were looking forward to the possibility that the iPhone would prove Steve's new found commitment to the environment.

Unfortunately our tests on the iPhone have revealed it contains hazardous chemicals, including nasty stuff that other phone makers have already stopped using. Get the full details here including a video and high quality pictures of the iPhone dismantling for testing.

If Steve really wants to reinvent the phone, he needs to design out all hazardous substances from the iPhone. It should be at least as green as the offerings from Sony Ericsson, Nokia and Motorola.

That would be the first sign that his promises of a greener Apple will bear any fruit. Right now he appears to have any green product news 'on hold'.

Stay in touch

While we will be keeping a close eye on Apple's progress (and the rest of the electronics sector) this part of Green my Apple is over. Therefore this is the last message you receive on this specific Green my Apple list.

... or do you think that our friend Bill is behind all this??? :-) Fit's the day ... while blogging about environment ...
